Employee Story | Liu Aijun: Doing things with heart, being a down-to-earth person

Liu Aijun, 46, currently serves as the lead of the CNC Team. He has accumulated 17 years of experience in the drilling tools industry at North Star. Over these 17 years, Liu Aijun has maintained a diligent work ethic and consistently learned from his colleagues. He shares his mindset: “You need to stay grounded, be practical, and be proactive in learning from others. Don’t hold back. No one can master every skill that others possess.”

Liu Aijun is innovative and passionate about technical research. In the past, lathes relied on pointed centres that came with high costs and operational inconveniences. After careful observation and testing, Liu Aijun developed a custom three-piece alloy centre featuring male and female tapered weld joints, a design still in use on the shop floor. The modification has cut operational costs and boosted production efficiency. He remarks, “You have to pay close attention to your work. Nothing can be accomplished well without genuine dedication.”

Seventeen years ago, Liu Aijun started out as an ordinary lathe operator at North Star. What has kept him devoted to the company for nearly his entire career, witnessing milestones such as his child’s transition from the first to the eighteenth birthday alongside the company’s growth? He explains: “More than a decade ago, we worked at the old factory site. The plant was small and our team was lean, but we pulled together through everything. Once the restroom became clogged, and everyone was busy with production work. Our boss stepped in to fix it himself. Everyone present gained immense respect for him. Chairman Wang never put on the airs of a superior. He rolled up his sleeves and laboured side by side with us, and that’s how North Star grew into what it is today.” Liu Aijun believes North Star fosters a unique culture and spirit, one that builds a strong family-like bond and a powerful sense of solidarity among the workforce.
