ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Environmental Impact

Reducing environmental impact through cleaner production, resource efficiency and responsible material choices.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Reducing Our Environmental Footprint

Cleaner production. Smarter resource use. More responsible material choices.
North Star is strengthening environmental management across energy, water, waste, emissions and raw-material sourcing.
2025 baseline — Our environmental program is built around measurable performance and continuous improvement.

WHY ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Environmental performance is built into the way we operate.

For North Star, environmental management is not a standalone initiative. It is connected to how we use energy and water, control waste and pollution, select materials and improve manufacturing efficiency.

Cleaner Production

Improve production efficiency while reducing avoidable energy and resource consumption.

Responsible Resources

Manage water, energy and materials with greater visibility and stronger controls.

Lower-Impact Materials

Increase the use of greener steel and strengthen responsible sourcing practices.

2025 ENVIRONMENTAL BASELINE

Measure first. Then improve.

North Star established a clearer environmental baseline through its 2025 sustainability reporting. The data gives us a foundation for identifying priorities, setting targets and tracking progress over time.
Total GHG emissions
58,835.65 tCO₂e across Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 in the 2024 baseline inventory.

WHERE WE FOCUS

Environmental performance is built into the way we operate.

Our environmental priorities follow the areas where manufacturing decisions can make the greatest difference.

Energy Efficiency

Improve equipment efficiency and reduce avoidable energy use.

Water & Resources

Monitor water and resource use and improve efficiency.

Waste
Control

Strengthen waste segregation, handling and responsible disposal.

Pollution Prevention

Maintain monitoring and control of relevant environmental impacts.

Greener Materials

Increase lower-impact and green steel procurement.

Continuous Improvement

Use measurement and review to turn environmental data into action.

2025 IN ACTION

Practical improvements on the factory floor.

Environmental performance is supported by concrete operational changes rather than targets alone.
Seven high-power motors replaced
Average energy savings of 34.7% across the replaced motors.

Green electricity
6,016 kWh of green electricity, representing 49.6% of total usage by November 2025.

Environmental progress

Measure. Improve. Build for the long term.

GREENER MATERIALS

Better material choices start with responsible procurement.

Steel is the core input for drill rods and drilling tools. North Star is therefore strengthening procurement standards and increasing the share of greener steel in its sourcing.

86%
Green steel procurement
The green steel procurement share increased by approximately 50% compared with 2024.
58,835.65 tCO₂e
TOTAL GHG EMISSIONS
2024 baseline inventory
1,224.78 tCO₂e
SCOPE 1
Direct emissions
6,242.12 tCO₂e
SCOPE 2
Purchased electricity and energy
51,368.75 tCO₂e
SCOPE 3
Value-chain emissions

WHAT COMES NEXT

Turning measurement into the next stage of improvement.

Our future environmental priorities focus on stronger efficiency, better controls and more transparent performance management.

Energy & Resource Efficiency

Continue improving energy and resource efficiency across operations.

Waste & Pollution Control

Strengthen waste management and pollution prevention practices.

Waste
Management

Improve monitoring and responsible water use.

Environmental Monitoring

Maintain systematic monitoring and performance review.

Lower-Carbon Materials

Further develop lower-carbon and responsible material sourcing.
